History
Since its establishment, the Political Science Study Program at Udayana University has been expected to produce reliable, excellent, independent, cultured human resources with strong academic qualifications in the field of political science. In 2011, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences of Udayana University opened several new study programs, one of which was the Political Science Study Program, based on the Decree of the Ministry of National Education Number 97/E/O/2011. The establishment of the Political Science Study Program was part of Udayana University’s effort to develop the social and political sciences, particularly in response to the growing need for higher education in the field of political science. More specifically, Bali is a strategic region widely known as a frequent venue for associations, academic forums, and seminars related to political issues at the regional, national, and international levels. Therefore, the presence of the Political Science Study Program is expected to contribute to academic development, particularly in the field of political science, as well as to serve as an ideal learning platform for students. The first cohort of students in the Political Science Study Program was admitted through the Talent and Interest-Based Admission Selection, known as Penelusuran Minat dan Kemampuan or PMDK, in 2011. At the beginning of its operation, the first cohort consisted of six students from Bali Province and from outside Bali Province. In the following academic year, new students of the Political Science Study Program at Udayana University were admitted through the National Selection for State University Admission, known as Seleksi Nasional Masuk Perguruan Tinggi Negeri or SNMPTN, the Joint Selection for State University Admission, known as Seleksi Bersama Masuk Perguruan Tinggi Negeri or SBMPTN, and the Independent Admission Track of Udayana University. Since the beginning of its operation in the 2011 academic year until the 2025 academic year, graduates and alumni of the Political Science Study Program at Udayana University have worked and been involved in various professions and employment sectors, including the private sector, journalism, and the public sector.
