Political Science Department of Udayana University Holds “Capital & Power” Methodological Workshop University General

Denpasar, Wednesday, August 19, 2026 — The Department of Political Science, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Udayana University, will organize a Methodological Workshop in Social Science Research entitled “Capital & Power” on August 24 and 26, 2026. The workshop will feature Hizkia Y. S. Polimpung, a Researcher from Monash University Malaysia, as the facilitator.

The workshop is designed as an academic space to broaden participants’ understanding of social science research methodology while encouraging a more critical examination of the relationship between capital and power. These two concepts are central to understanding how resources, interests, and power relations operate within social and political life.

In social science research, effective inquiry requires more than the ability to collect and analyze data. It also requires a conceptual framework capable of examining social and political phenomena in depth. Through this workshop, participants are expected to strengthen their ability to formulate research problems, develop academic arguments, and apply methodological approaches that are relevant to their research interests.

The discussion of capital & power also provides an opportunity to explore how social and political relations are shaped by the distribution of resources and the positions of different actors within society. This perspective can help researchers examine how power is established, maintained, negotiated, and challenged across various social and political contexts.

The participation of Hizkia Y. S. Polimpung as facilitator is expected to provide valuable academic insights and research experience that will enrich the learning process.
