POLITICAL SCIENCE LECTURER LEADS NATIONAL SURVEY ON PUBLIC SATISFACTION WITH GOVERNMENT PERFORMANCE

`

Denpasar, Sunday, August 24, 2025 — Dr. Kadek Dwita, a lecturer at the Political Science Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Universitas Udayana, and Director of Research at the Indonesian Social Survey (ISS), led a national survey examining public satisfaction with the performance of the government under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto.

The survey, conducted from July 11–20, 2025, involved 2,200 respondents across Indonesia using a multistage random sampling method. The survey had a 95 percent confidence level with a margin of error of 2.5 percent. The findings showed that 78 percent of respondents expressed satisfaction with the government's performance, consisting of 71.5 percent who were satisfied and 6.5 percent who were very satisfied.

In presenting the findings, Dr. Kadek Dwita explained that public satisfaction with government performance is closely related to people's quality of life. The survey indicated that public satisfaction is not determined solely by economic conditions, but is also influenced by several aspects of everyday life, including overall life satisfaction, the quality of the school environment, and a sense of personal safety.

In addition to quality of life, public trust in state institutions was identified as an important factor shaping perceptions of government performance. The survey recorded a 90.9 percent level of trust in the President when the “fairly trust” and “highly trust” categories were combined. High levels of trust were also recorded for several other institutions, including the Vice President, the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI), and government ministers.

Dr. Kadek Dwita emphasized that positive public perceptions of the government are influenced not only by improvements in income but also by feelings of safety, the quality of education, and institutional trust. Public satisfaction with the functioning of democracy was also identified as one of the factors associated with assessments of government performance.

The survey findings provide an overview of how Indonesians evaluate government performance through multiple dimensions of their lives, rather than solely from an economic perspective. The findings also highlight the importance of basic public services, personal safety, institutional trust, and overall life satisfaction in understanding public perceptions of government.

Dr. Kadek Dwita's involvement in the national survey demonstrates the contribution of academics from the Political Science Study Program, Universitas Udayana, to producing evidence-based research on political dynamics and public perceptions in Indonesia.
