Political Science Public Lecture Discusses the Future of Indonesia’s Electoral System Following Constitutional Court Decision No. 135 University General
Denpasar, Saturday, May 16, 2026 — The Political Science Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Udayana University, will hold a Political Science Public Lecture focusing on the future direction of Indonesia’s electoral system following Constitutional Court Decision No. 135/PUU-XXII/2024.
The public lecture will critically examine developments in Indonesia’s electoral system following the Constitutional Court’s decision, particularly its implications for the 2029 National Elections and the 2031 Regional Head Elections (Pemilukada). This issue is important to discuss as electoral design and implementation are closely connected to the quality of democracy, political representation, and the effectiveness of governance.
The event will feature Dr. M. Rifqinizamy Karsayuda, Chairperson of Commission II of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI), as the keynote speaker. The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Kadek Dwita Apriani, S.Sos., M.IP.

Through this event, students are expected to gain a more comprehensive understanding of developments in Indonesia’s electoral system and examine the relationship between judicial decisions, political policy, institutional design, and democratic practices.
Beyond serving as an academic learning forum, the public lecture is also expected to provide a space for dialogue between students and public policy practitioners to discuss challenges and opportunities in developing an electoral system that is democratic, effective, and capable of ensuring meaningful political representation.
