PUBLIC LECTURE: DEVELOPMENT AND THE SOCIO-ECOLOGICAL CRISIS IN BALI

`

The Political Science Study Program at Universitas Udayana successfully organized a public lecture entitled “Development and the Socio-Ecological Crisis: Policy Directions and Post-Disaster Governance in Bali.”

The event was held on Monday, November 10, 2025, from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM WITA, at the 4th Floor FISIP Auditorium, Sudirman Campus, featuring Prof. Agung Wardana, Ph.D. as the guest speaker. The public lecture served as a critical academic forum for examining the dynamics of development and the challenges posed by the socio-ecological crisis in Bali.

During the forum, several policy and governance directions were formulated in response to spatial and ecological issues in Bali, including:

  • Short-Term: Mobilizing public pressure to advocate for a moratorium on tourism industry development.

  • Medium-Term: Implementing policy interventions to redirect development priorities toward human safety and ecological sustainability.

  • Long-Term: Strengthening the transformation of economic and political structures as a fundamental solution to the socio-ecological crisis.

Through this activity, it is expected that a more comprehensive understanding and critical perspectives will emerge to contribute to the formulation of sustainable and equitable development directions for Bali.

This activity reflects the commitment of the Political Science Study Program at Universitas Udayana to fostering academic discourse that is responsive to strategic issues at both the local and global levels. (Media VOX: Axel)
