SEMINAR ON THE CODIFICATION OF ELECTION LAWS

Denpasar, Saturday, October 4, 2025 — The Political Science Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Universitas Udayana, successfully held the Seminar on the Codification of Election Laws on Friday, October 3, 2025. The event took place in Meeting Room I, Postgraduate Building, Universitas Udayana.

The seminar served as an academic forum to discuss various aspects of the codification of election laws and the importance of regulatory harmonization in supporting the implementation of democracy in Indonesia. The event also provided students and members of the academic community with an opportunity to gain perspectives from academics, practitioners, and policymakers regarding developments in electoral regulations.

The seminar featured several speakers with expertise in politics, elections, and legislation:

  1. Heroik M. Pratama, Executive Director of Perludem;

  2. Ahmad Doli Kurnia Tandjung, Deputy Chair of the Legislative Body of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI); and

  3. Kadek Dwita Apriani, Lecturer at the Political Science Study Program, Universitas Udayana.

The discussion was moderated by Ni Made Inten Supriyanti, Lecturer at the Political Science Study Program, Universitas Udayana.

During the seminar, the speakers presented various perspectives on the need for codification and harmonization of electoral regulations. The discussion highlighted the importance of establishing more integrated and coherent election regulations that can respond effectively to developments and challenges in Indonesia's democratic process.

The codification of election laws is an important issue, as electoral regulations play a strategic role in establishing effective election governance and ensuring legal certainty for all stakeholders involved. Regulatory harmonization is also necessary to minimize potential overlaps between regulations and create a more consistent electoral system.

Through this event, participants gained broader insights into the relationship between electoral regulations, the legislative process, and democratic development in Indonesia. The seminar also provided a platform for the academic community to engage in critical discussions on efforts to develop an electoral system that is more stable, inclusive, democratic, and grounded in legal certainty.

The Seminar on the Codification of Election Laws is expected to strengthen students' and members of the academic community's understanding of electoral policies and regulations while encouraging academic engagement in discussions concerning the future of democracy in Indonesia.
