SUCCESSFULLY HELD: PUBLIC LECTURE “POLITICAL ECONOMY: FLOOD RISK GOVERNANCE IN INDONESIA”
Denpasar, Tuesday, September 30, 2025 — The Political Science Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Universitas Udayana, successfully held a Public Lecture on September 30, 2025, conducted online via Zoom.
The public lecture carried the theme “Political Economy: Flood Risk Governance in Indonesia” and featured Yogi Setya Permana, a researcher at the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), as the speaker. The event served as an academic forum for the academic community to broaden their understanding of the relationship between political economy, public policy, and disaster risk governance.
During the lecture, Yogi Setya Permana discussed the importance of governance in managing flood risks in Indonesia. The discussion covered various challenges in flood risk management, including the importance of coordination and collaboration among stakeholders in developing effective disaster risk reduction policies.
The lecture also explored potential solutions to strengthen community resilience to disaster risks. A political economy perspective was used to examine how policies, resources, interests, and the actors involved can influence flood risk management processes.
The public lecture was conducted online via Zoom and provided students and members of the academic community with an opportunity to gain both academic and practical perspectives on flood risk governance in Indonesia.
Through this activity, the Political Science Study Program, FISIP Universitas Udayana, continues to encourage the development of students' academic perspectives and understanding of public issues closely related to political, economic, policy, and governance dynamics in Indonesia.
